In this paper, a technique of testing the hot fracture toughness K_Ie of surface cracks is recommended. With the help of the technique, the test sample is heated, the temperature is controlled and the (p-V) curve of the force p versus the open displacement V of a crack mouth is drawn automatically. The test accuracy is very high.
