An approach to feature extraction and symbolic representation of the fuel injection pressure waveform of diesel is proposed based on peak dominance relation between peak and trough in this paper. A waveform parsing system with application to structural pattern recognition of the pressure waveform based on the representation is described. The experiments have shown it is effective to the waveform recognition.
