With tetrapyridine nickel dinitrile (TPNDN) as Catalyst，the poly-p-phenylene (ppph) is synthesized from bromobenzene. The derivatives of ppph，poly (2，5-dimethoxy)-p-phenylene，poly (2，5-diethoxy)-p-phenylene and poly (2，5-dibutoxy)-p-phenylene are synthesized from hydroquinone by using FeCl₃ as catalyst. IR spectra of these polymers are presented and conductivity and current versus voltage (I-V) characteristics are determined.
