    Abstract:

    This paper presents an approach to terrain uniqueness analysis in terrain contour matching. The approach, based on the physical model of terrain contour matching, defines a probability vector to describe the local terrain uniqueness and thus provides a way to measure terrain uniqueness via entropy. From analysis and computer simulation, the paper concludes that the lower the terrain entropy, the better the terrain uniqueness and the higher the performance of terrain contour matching.
