    Abstract:

Ship targets are generally present in SAR ocean imagery as bright points. In this paper, we introduce the principle of imaging of ship targets first. Then we describe three methods of detecting ship targets from satellite SAR ocean imagery——running window filters method, adaptive limiting method and probability density function method. We have tested the methods by using the real SAR ocean imagery. The result of testing show that adaptive limiting method and probability density function method are good.
