The physicochemical behavior and the composition of gas products of HTPB thermal decomposition have been investigated systematically in this paper by combining with the technique of thermal analysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (TA-GC-MS)，and infrared spectrometry. Some factors that affect the thermal decomposition of the HTPB have been discussed. The possible mechanism of HTPB thermal decomposition has been suggested.
