Abstract:
A general solution of the differential equation of deflection surface for the rectangular thin plate in stability study is obtained in this paper. It can be used to determine the critical load of rectangular plate with arbitrary boundaries. As an example,the critical load and buckling mode of a square plate with four edges free and subjected to uniform compression along four edges have been calculated.
