Abstract:
The response of strain on the face of composite laminates impacted by a projectile was recorded by strain gages. According to the theory of wave propagation and continum damage mechanics, the damage and damage threshold in the glass fiber/epoxy composite laminates were measured by variance of wave speed. It was found that the damage propagation in glass fiber/epoxy composites was faster during tension than during compression.
